TSI performed engineering and construction services for this waterfront project at Castaic lower lagoon for the State of California. Construction work on this project included replacing an existing boat ramp with a new 55' by 170 ft concrete Vgrooved
launch ramp, installation of four fiberglass dock sections, three 12 inch diameter steel piles for the dock sections and replacing existing 6,925 sf of asphalt concrete pavement. The scope also included placement 500 cubic yards of aggregate base, drain rock and pea gravel and 230 square yards of rip rap to be placed and keyed along the entire front of boat ramp. 55' by 46' of the ramp was the push section while the rest was CIP, both constructed with 4,000 psi plain cement concrete.
In order to push 6" thick push slab through a distance of 53 ft as per design, the push section was casted on steel rails and pushed with the help of dozers to its final location. Rip Rap was placed in front of ramp at a depth of 7/8 ft and also along the sides of CIP and the push section. Pushing of 55 'by 46' concrete slab in true lines and grades with the help of Dozers was a real challenge which was met successfully.
