Project Description
TSI Engineering delivered a full mechanical, electrical, and water/wastewater systems upgrade for the Phillip S. Raine Safety Roadside Rest Area. The project modernized both northbound and southbound comfort stations, upgraded plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, standby power infrastructure, and reinforced compliance with current Caltrans and State Fire Marshal standards.
Scope Highlights
- Replaced wall-mounted water closets with high-efficiency 1.28 gpf systems and upgraded flush controls
- Modified plumbing rough-ins while retaining existing carriers, waste, and vent systems.
- Upgraded site electrical distribution, grounding, and traffic-rated pull boxes
- Installed 150 kW diesel standby generator with 200A, 480V ATS and NFPA-compliant fuel system
- Installed wastewater lift station and channel grinders
- Installed electrical panels including main switch boards and pump panels
Performance
- Executed phased northbound and southbound facility upgrades
- Achieved Caltrans and California State Fire Marshal Approval
- Delivered all electrical-mechanical-water-wastewater improvements in strict accordance with 2018 Caltrans Specifications
